I’m sure that this list will grow with time, but here is a list of the most common questions that I’ve received so far.
HELP! Can you come and save my workplace?
The short answer is, “yes!”
My goal and mission is to end professional suffering in America, and ideally, the world. And as a keynote speaker, consultant and corporate trainer, I’m equipped to help struggling workplaces in a number of ways:
- Deliver a powerful keynote speech to inspire staff and management to embrace a culture of kindness, relentless respect and positivity throughout the organization.
- Teach workshops to provide staff and management with the skills/tools work as a highly-functioning team, communicate professionally, overcome adversity, and lead authentically.
- Work with smaller groups of people of all levels to help them to find a deeper meaning in their work.
If I can suspend modesty for a quick minute, I’m pretty good at these things too. Helping others to make their work, work is my passion, and nothing makes me happier than making a positive difference in workplaces all over the world.
Simply put, I believe that work should be a positive experience for the overwhelming majority of people in this world. That’s definitely not the case right now, and I plan to spend the rest of my life as a positivity activist doing something about it.
For even more details on how I can be of service, don’t hesitate to check out my Contact Page or email me directly at “shola [at] thepositivitysolution [dot] com.” I’d love to hear from you!
I heard that you were an author. Where can I find your book?
Yes, I’m officially an author! My debut book, Making Work Work: The Positivity Solution for Any Work Environment hit bookstores worldwide on September 6, 2016, and I am so pumped about it! If you’re dealing with a challenging work environment of any kind, or if you believe that we need to make kindness and mutual respect the new normal at work, please know that I wrote this book specifically for you. For more details about my book and the workplace positivity movement that I’m starting this year, take a moment to read this.
It’s available on Amazon, at your local bookstore/library, and anywhere else where books are sold!
Do you do 1-on-1 coaching?
I don’t right now, but I’ve been asked about it a few times recently. If more people sincerely would like me to offer that service, I would be more than happy to make it happen. Just let me know!
Is this some sort of a religious site?
No, not at all. It completely doesn’t matter to me in the slightest bit which religion anyone chooses to follow, or if they choose to follow a religion at all. This is a site simply about positivity. In the end, I believe wholeheartedly that positivity is for all of us–regardless of our race, sex, age, social status, sexual orientation, and of course, religion (or lack of it) too.
We’re all in this together.
Optimism and positivity annoy the hell out of me. Don’t you understand that bad things happen all of the time?
Believe me, I’m more aware than most people that bad things happen all of the time. In fact, that’s part of the reason why I started this blog in the first place. I wanted to create some much needed balance in this world and help to shift some perspectives a little bit.
Bad things do happen, no one can deny that. But
good things amazing things happen all of the time too. As always, it comes down to our perspective and what we choose to focus on. Are most people rude, mean, self-centered jerks, or are most people loving, generous, and genuinely kind people? It all depends on how you choose to see the world.
And since you brought it up, pessimism and negativity annoy the hell out of me, so it looks like we’re even 😉
I love your logo and I absolutely LOVE your t-shirts! Can I buy one?
By far, the biggest surprise of starting The Positivity Solution has been the overwhelmingly positive (for lack of a better word) response to the t-shirts. Truthfully, I wasn’t prepared for all of the t-shirt love, so I’m working out a way to get high-quality t-shirts sold on this site soon. Stay tuned!
Update 9/18/2015: Here they are–enjoy! The Positivity Solution Shop
Whoa, your blog posts are long.
Hey, that’s not a question! No worries, I’ll answer it anyway.
I only post updates to this blog once a week (every Monday morning), so I really want to make each post count. I’m not into the barely-scratching-the-surface silliness (think: 14 Ways to Smile Everyday No Matter What!!!) that the positivity blogging genre is often known for.
My goal is to deeply tackle some of the more challenging topics related to positivity (for example: developing resiliency, staying in the moment, honoring and loving ourselves, overcoming workplace bullying, embracing vulnerability, and ending toxic relationships, to name a few), and I don’t think that it’s possible to do these issues any real justice in a short and simple list post.
In other words, this isn’t Positivity 101: The Basics. My goal is to create a blog that is more like Positivity 301: The Advanced Curriculum.
I read that you wrote sh*t and a**hole in one of your posts. How is that positive?
Wait…just to be clear, you meant shit and asshole, right? All of the asterisks were throwing me off a little bit.
Okay, okay…all jokes aside—trust me, I’m never going to drop a steady stream of F-bombs on this blog, because I wouldn’t do that in real life. However, I will drop a curse word every now and then, because that’s something that I would do in real life. Speaking of real, in the end, these are just words and they only have the power that you choose to give to them.
Most importantly, for the first time in my life, I’m finally comfortable with being 100% authentically real–not just on this blog, but in my life too. Which means that you’ll be getting the “real Shola” here in these blog posts, not the watered-down version.
And truthfully, if there’s anything more positive than being fully real and authentic with all of you, then I don’t know what it is.
Ok, Mr. Positivity—are you telling me that you’re positive all of the time?
All the time? No.
I’ll admit, I’m a very positive dude, but just because I blog about positivity doesn’t make me a positivity superhero, or something crazy like that. Trust me, I’m no guru. I’m just an average guy who believes strongly (like, with all of my heart and soul) in the power of positivity and how it can completely transform our lives for the better if we choose to let it.
Believe me, I have bad days where I’m not feeling very positive, just like everyone else. That’s the coolest part about all of this. We’re all works in progress doing the best that we can with what we’ve got, each and every day.
That’s what life is all about, right?
I really dig what you’re doing here. What can I do to help?
That is incredibly cool of you, thank you! The best way to help is by reading this blog (which hopefully, you’re already doing) and by helping me to get the word out about The Positivity Solution by sharing it with other people who you believe would benefit from it.
Why do you care so much about making the world a more positive place?
Truthfully, it’s because I have to do this. There are so many people in this world who are unhappy at work (I used to be there) and unhappy at home, and if I can do something to change that while I’m alive and able to do so, then I have to do it.
It’s hard to explain, but making the world a more positive place is a lifelong dream of mine. If I can leave the world in a better place for my two little girls, my friends and family, my neighbors, for you, and for anyone else who needs my help then I will feel like my dream has been realized.
